It has been a crazy week in gaming. We received two gems with the release of Diablo IV and Street Fighter 6. Both games shattered their historical first week player count and sales numbers. Shortly before the release of these games, another juggernaut in the gaming industry made an announcement that they were making their new game. Nether Realm Studios (NRS) announced they would be releasing Mortal Kombat 1 this year and that we get our first look at actual gameplay today 6/8/2023.
The announcement trailer was a huge success displaying all of returning characters, allowing us to see their updated looks and potentially how they may move showing off some very cinematic Fatal Blows and Fatalities which I firmly believe were all in-game given the dramatic cinematic nature of these moves in previous games including the Injustice series.
I’m personally expecting to be blown away. I’ve enjoyed just about every offering from NRS in past years so I don’t see them dropping the ball with this latest installment. I’m sure after today, the gaming community will be salivating for the release of this game.
